How To:

Run Q Local System 2 as an administrator so that an On Screen Administration can properly lock access without being logged into the computer on a Local Admin account

Follow the steps below (they will need to have someone with administrative privileges available):

1. Right Click on the Shortcut for Q Local 2 and go to 'Properties'.
2. In the 'Target' field prepend the path to QLocal.exe (usually, "C:\Program Files\Pearson\Q Local System 2\QLocal.exe") with C:\Windows\system32\runas.exe /savecred /user:<computer name>\<administrator name>
    a. Do not put in the "<" or ">". This string may need to be formatted differently to fit thegiven situation on the computer or network (i.e.,           domain permissions which requires "/user:<domain name>\<domain admin name>.)
    b. The user can type 'runas /?' in a Command Prompt window to get the Help for the 'runas' command and use
3. Run the Shortcut.
4. When the Command Prompt window opens, enter the password for the account they used in the 'runas' command.
5. Once entered, Q Local will continue to launch. Once it is open, close Q Local and launch from the shortcut again. At this point Q Local should open without prompting.
Note: As a verification step once Q Local is opened using the modified shortcut , open 'Task Manager'. On the 'Processes' tab, locate the "QLocalApp.exe." It should show that the process was opened by whatever login was used in the 'runas' command instead of the current user.
