If scanning is installed - go to any of the options to scan a new batch. Click on the Begin Scanning button. A message box opens (see attachment). ScanTools will not launch. The log does not contain any useful information. There is no pattern related to OS, hardware, installation type, network or solo version. I will work with Dave to debug

<On-Screen Administration Summary> window on Vista is blank (empty) after completing an on-screen assessment
|
After completing an on-screen assessment, the <On-Screen Administration Summary> window comes up, but it is entirely blank. Vista is not always painting this window (you are able to click on about where the buttons would be in the window and the button appears and functions correctly...see screenshot). The only way to exit the window is to click the [X] button in the upper-right corner.
This does not always occur and is not specifically reproduceable, but I have seen this a few times now. (see attached screenshot)
5/31/07 - Saw this same issue on the <Home> screen...see attached screenshot for visual.
[Note 06/13/2007 -- EAV]
For some reason the UI is not being painted, but it remains responsive. If you know where the buttons are, you can click there and they work as they should. (The above statement that you can only exit via the Close Box in the upper right is incorrect). You can also force the window to repaint by dragging it off-screen and then back, or (in the case of the homepage) by minimizing it and then restoring it.
[Note 06/13/2007 -- EAV]
Chad and I have been trying to find a way to reliably reproduce this, but it is maddeningly inconsistent. I have seen the homepage glitch on the QA test machine. For a while I could reproduce it there by turning on security, creating a new user with admin privliges, then logging out and logging back in as that user. However, it would only work the first time I tried it after a fresh install, and the same steps did NOT produce the glitch when I tried repeatedly on another test instance (a VMWare machine on my workstation).
Meanwhile, I was able to reproduce the OSA Summary window glitch on my VMWare machine several times in a row by administering a BSI-18, and clicking the "Next" button on the final screen that says the administration is complete. The glitch would only show up if I reached the OSA Summary Window in this fashion, never if I got there using the CTRL-E key combination. However, I can not reproduce the glitch at all on the QA machine, and when I tried the same steps again on my VMWare machine at a later time they no longer produced the glitch.
I suspect that the cause of this issue lies either deep in the window toolkit of our JRE (which presently is 1.5.0_11) or in Windows Vista itself. At this time the only approach I can come up with is to add some redundant calls to try and forcibly repaint the window, and see if we continue to encounter this behavior.
Cannot address in 2.2 based on the information we have to go on. Reassigned to 2.3.

Iowacpat1: stop and restart MTxReportServer
|
MTxreportServer has become non-responsive twice since we changed to newer hardware for Iowacpat1. The server appears to be running from both JRUN and the Windows services but hangs if you try to place an order through Q Local. We have choose to work around this issue by adding a weekly job that automatically stops and restarts the Report Server. This should solve the problem.

Report Ordering logging is incorrect
|
Logging of any type of usage order must include the order start, hasp contents, order end, and hasp contents regardless of any cancellation or invalid TIC exchange.
I believe in the Java rewrite, we also included the account number. Add that to the list above.
1. The system shall log any and all attempts to order usages.
2. The system shall timestamp all events and object dumps
3. The system shall encode all object dumps in base64
4. In cases where an order is completed, the system shall distinguish between phone and internet orders
5. The system shall log the beginning of any and all attempts regardless of error conditions
6. The system shall log the hasp contents at the beginning of any and all orders
7. The system shall log the order line items regardless of the overall order success or errors accessing the HASP
8. The system shall log information about all unsuccessful logging attempts, including an invalid TIC code.
9. The system shall log the account number and suffix of the HASP receiving the report usages.
10. The system shall log the hasp contents after the order exchange is complete.
11. If any errors occur in accessing the HASP, the system shall log the error details such that any tech support person can determine what happened.
7/22 wrl
The start of the order is considered to be whenever the user gets past the terms and conditions screen.

Validate Scanning & interface with the Insight20 scanner, Include in the test plan 2.4 version validated Insight20 Scantools did not interfere with other versions/scanners
|
New scanner: Insight20 added to the list of supported scanners
May need to update Scantools link SDK to the newest version to be compatible.
===============================================
From Gary Therens, 5/27/2009:
- Support the iNsight 20 on Windows XP and Vista (but not Vista 64bit)
- Modify the installer to install the latest scantools on XP and Vista and the older scantools on Windows 2000. This will allow Windows 2000 users to continue to use the older Opscan and iNsight scanners
Initial delivery of the split installer will install 7.0 ScanTools Plus Link Runtime and 2.3 version of QLocalScan.exe on Windows 2000, and 7.2 ScanTools Plus Link Runtime and updated QLocalScan.exe on all other platforms (including Vista 64 bit). If testing reveals that things really do not work on Vista 64 bit, we may need to adjust this plan.

InstallShield tries to install BOTH versions of ScanTools in an upgrade scenario when scanning is not already installed.
|
InstallShield continues to show its magnificent ability to suck in the following upgrade scenario:
1) User installs any pre-2.4 version of QLocal WITHOUT the Scanning Solution.
2) User upgrades to 2.4.
3) InstallShield decides, all on its own, that both the Windows 2000 and non-Windows 2000 versions of the scanning solution should be installed, and attempts to install both of them.
4) The attempt to install the Windows 2000 flavor of the scanning solution fails, since the necessary install files don't exist on the system.

Terminal Services workaroud for HASP no longer functioning
|
Prior to the release of QLocal 2.3, a Network customer could do the following:
1) Install Client on Machine A.
2) Install Database and HASP Server on Machine B.
3) Use Terminal Services to access Machine A from a remote location.
4) Use the Client on Machine A to access the HASP connected to Machine B via the HASP server.
In this way, a customer could get around the Aladdin restriction which prevented communication with a HASP via Terminal Services.
With the release of QLocal 2.3 and the migration to Aladdin's Java-based API, this process fails at step (4) because the Aladdin API throws a 'Terminal Services' exception when trying to locate a local HASP on Machine A, thus blocking QLocal from proceeding to check for a remote HASP. The solution is to trap the exception in HaspCtrlRMIImpl.getCache() and allow QLocal to continue on to try to find a remote HASP.
If we ever release QLocal 2.4, we will do this.

BASI PDD needs to show correspondence between VO_WM_PERF and TABLE1_ROW2_PERF - and others
|
When I try to figure out what SLang variable in the SLang table corresponds to a particular Export label, for some of the variables, I get referred to the XML file. A specific example is trying to figure out what SLang variable is associated with the VO_MC_PF export label. The Common Export Order table associates it with the VO_WM_PERF SLang variable, but it doesn't associate it with the TABLE1_ROW2_PERF SLang variable.
The XML file is an implementation of the PDD specification, so referring to the XML file is circular.
These references are needed to implement the Export Headers tests which set the SLang variable and then check the corresponding Export variable.
There are a few dozen? of these references missing in the PDD. This TT item is intended to cover all of them.

Made changes to the following PDDs: BASI1A, 2A, 3A, 4A and made notes to the BASI 1B, 2B, 3B, 4B, and Common PDD to refer them to the correct place in another PDD to find this information. Diffed each PDD. Ready for peer review. 03/13/09 rts

Upgrade to SQL Server Express SP2
|
We currently ship SQL Server Express 2005 SP1. Customers are increasingly getting SSEE SP2 on their machine, and they are also getting the SP1 components upgraded to SP2 through some process we still do not understand.
We should consider switching to SSEE SP2 in the next release. This would involve packaging the SP2 executable, testing compatibility with SP1, normal regression testing, and testing various upgrade scenarios. We need to retain all current functionality with respect to backups/restores and upgrading from MSDE-based Q Local releases.

Installer fails to configure db after SSEE installation
|
Some Q Local installations don't complete because the server doesn't start up quickly enough after it gets installed.
In the normal scenario, the SSEE installer is supposed to start up the server right before it exits.
Right after the SSEE installer exits, our installer tries to access the server to do the configuration.
This has caused problems in the past because the server can take a while to start up, and sometimes when it tells us that it is started, it doesn't stay started. We have a very defensive piece of code that checks the status and only tries to do the configuration if we see a stable state.
On some machines, it takes a long time to start the server. This is usually caused by an underconfigured machine or a very cluttered startup list. So on some machines, it looks like we should wait a little longer and insist on a stable "running" state rather than any stable state.
1. Change the installer so that it waits for three "start" states in a row. It will also stop waiting after about 30 - 40 seconds if it hasn't seen "start" three times in a row.
2. Change so that if the wait loop exits and the server is in the "stop" state, try to start the server.

Q Local should give better error message when language is not English
|
If a user changes their Language setting (Control Panel) to anything that produces something different from 'en' when executing Locale.getDefault().getLanguage(), Q Local will fail the db version check during startup.
This is because MTx_Code has a language_id column that we don't appear to use. It might have been an artifact of an aborted intent to internationalize Q Local long ago.
The result is that customers around the world who get Q Local installed by using the English US version of the Microsoft OS will run into this problem with their local language setting.
When the user tries to run Q Local, they get a message telling them that the database version could not be determined.
This error message should be changed to something that tells them that their language setting needs to be English (United States).
Title: Q Local System
Message: Your language setting is: frncais (France).
Some features of Q Local might not work properly with this setting.
Please use the Control Panel/Regional and Language Options to set
your language to English (United States) while running Q Local.

The Quickview Social History consists of two segments: the Basic segment, which contains 130 items and the Clinical segment, which contains 105 items. M-PACI Add Noteworthy Responses to profile report summary in Assessment Info and remove qualification level.

M-PACI Add Noteworthy Responses to profile report summary in Assessment Info and remove Qualification level.
1. Assessment Info: Add sentence to Profile Report on M-PACI Report Options stating that Noteworthy Responses have been added. I copied entire paragraph that should now be listed below Profile Report (Product Number 22285) heading.
Presents a graphic representation of base rate scores for all 14 scales and two response validity indicators in an easy-to-read graph. The profile report also includes Noteworthy Responses that help provide clues for follow-up interviews based on individual item responses. As with the interpretive report, this report can help give administrators a picture of the individual’s personality and behavioral concerns.
2. Remove Qualification Level row on the Quick Facts page.

MACI Add Noteworthy Responses to profile report summary in Assessment Info.
Assessment Info: Add sentence to Profile Report on MACI Report Options stating that Noteworthy Responses have been added. I copied entire paragraph that should now be listed below Profile Report (Product Number 51486) heading.
This report provides a profile of base rate scores for all 27 scales, for the new Grossman facet scales, and for the three Modifying Indices. It summarizes demographic information and presents the coded personality string and an indication of the profile's validity. The profile report also includes Noteworthy Responses that help provide clues for follow-up interviews based on individual item responses.

When a machine goes to sleep it stops the Q Local process that runs the HASP server
|
If a machine is set up as a HASP server without a client on it and the machine goes to sleep mode, it will turn off the Q Local process that runs the HASP server.
This should not be an issue, in the field a HASP server should not be set to go to sleep mode.
If this does happen the work around is to simply start the process with the batch.

Q Local 2: Question about info in About Our Assessments - MBMD
|
nlm 4-26-07/in 'About our Assessments -> MBMD -> FAQ's' and I saw this:
Why does my interpretive report look so different when I send it to a WordPerfect file?
Users of the MBMD Interpretive Report should anticipate differences in the look of this report when it is sent to a WordPerfect file rather than printed directly from this software. The interpretive report was designed with distinct paragraph headers which are actually graphic boxes inserted between the paragraphs of the report. When the report is sent to a WordPerfect file, the graphics lose their positioning on the page. The interpretive statements are correct in the WordPerfect files; only the formatting of the report is lost.
I'm wondering if we still need this info now that we use PDF format?

Extra Windows Security for Vista Scanning Installation
|
When scanning is selected on installation on a Vista OS, the Windows security window appears on installation.
Would you like to install this device software?
Name: Scantron iNSIGHT 2/4
Publisher: Scantron Corporation
This may not be a defect of the software, but it should be noted because it is different installation functionality than XP.
