Error Description:Instilling Q local and receives a typical “unable to install SQL server" error. The return code is 1622.
Resolution:Most often 16XX error is a Microsoft Related error. This occurs when installing Q local software and the Log files can't be written to, due to permissions or security software restricting access to the temp folder and or if the Temp folder is redirected.
The Q local installer requires the ability to write log files in:
Documents And Settings//Local Settings/Temp
and in
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\...
If these files are blocked or restricted, the installation will not proceed.

Checking permissions to Temp folders

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\...
Clean out the Temp folder
Documents And Settings//Local Settings/Temp
Turn off all security software, reboot, and attempt to install again. .
Inquire if the machine is a stock machine or is it a custom machine configured by a tech. Some techs will configure temp folders and other settings in non standard configurations.
