The platform used for the CELF-III Scoring Assistant allows the user to enter item-level information to generate Item Analysis reports. Several CELF-III and CELF-IV subtests have "levels of correctness" by item. (Example: Recalling Sentences from the Record Form: OK-score of 3, 1 Error-score of 2, 2 Errors-score of 1, 4+Errors-score of 0)

The CELF-III Scoring Assistant automatically categorized scores (using item-level entry) of 3,2,1 as "Items Correct" and scores of 0 and items not administered as "Items Missed or Not Administered".

The CELF-IV Scoring Assistant does not offer item-level entry. Instead, the screen is designed to accommodate the examiner's clinical judgment. It is up to the examiner to decide if the student's response should be categorized as correct or incorrect based on the context of performance.

Therefore, the CELF-IV Scoring Assistant offers more flexibility for the examiner to determine how they want to categorize items from subtests that have "levels of correctness".

One examiner may believe that a score of 2 on a Recalling Sentences subtest means that the student got two correct points on that item, and place the item in the "Correct Items" category. While another examiner may feel that the student received a score of 2 and got 1 part of the item wrong, and place that item in the "Incorrect Items" category.
