Installing GRADE/GMADE on Windows Vista or Windows 7

Problems may occur while installing GRADE or GMADE on a VISTA or Windows 7 machine.  The installer will run, but no icons will be created.

To install the software:

  1. Insert GRADE or GMADE CD.
  2. A small window may appear with two options, if it does, select "Open Folder to View Files" and skip to Step 4.
  3. If no window appears or if the CD is already in the machine, click Computer from the Start Menu.  Right-click on the GMADE/GRADE CD or DVD drive and select Open.
  4. There will be a file called "Setup."  Right-click on it and select Properties.
  5. Click on the Compatibility tab near the top of the window.
  6. Check the checkbox next to Run this program in compatibility mode.
  7. Underneath the checkbox there is a drop-down menu.  Set it to "Windows XP Service Pack 3."
  8. Click Apply and OK.
  9. Double-click Setup and the program should install.
