Clarify why “Target Words” was removed

Frequently Asked Question:

Clarify why “Target Words” was removed.

Answer:

The Reading Comprehension subtest was updated to include a new passage to provide better floor items, revised passages, updated art, new and revised literal and inferential comprehension questions, and an updated skills analysis. The WIAT–II measures of reading rate and reading target words in the context of a sentence were removed from the Reading Comprehension subtest, and the Oral Reading Fluency subtest was added in order to more specifically target the measurement of these skills. New item set reverse rules were included to improve ease of administration and interpretation of results. Target words provided a measure of word identification accuracy when reading in context; this is now provided by the Oral Reading Fluency subtest.More information can be found on page 5 of the Tech Manual.
