Error Description:

Cannot find missing file windows\system\vmm32.vxd

Resolution:

This is a serious error message because VMM32.vxd is one of the most important files Windows needs in order to run. VMM32.vxd is actually a container file that holds all of the computer's virtual device drivers. These drivers are bits of software that let all of the computer's hardware devices communicate directly with the OS; if there's a problem with the virtual device drivers sometimes Windows won't load, and sometimes the hardware associated with the defective drivers fails. Problems with VMM32.vxd therefore lead to any number of errors, so if Windows has trouble loading it during the boot process, error messages, such as the one this unfortunate reader reports, can pop up.

Please ask for a Technician before relaying the following information. This is a non-recoverable error. Windows will not boot up. The only reliable fix to this problem is to reinstall Windows.
